Can Gaming Become a Career

Love gaming?

That doesn't automatically mean you should become a professional gamer.

But here's something interesting:

The gaming industry needs far more people than gamers.

A game can involve game designers, programmers, 3D artists, animators, writers, sound designers, UI/UX designers, producers, testers, community managers and esports professionals.

There are also careers emerging around gaming content, streaming, esports events and game technology.

So when someone says:

“Gaming is just a hobby.”

The better question might be:

“Which part of the gaming world interests me?”

Do you enjoy creating stories?
Designing characters?
Solving technical problems?
Drawing and animation?
Building worlds?
Organising competitions?
Understanding what players enjoy?

Your interest in gaming could point towards very different careers.

Sometimes a hobby isn't the career.

Sometimes it's a clue.
